Gemini Preparatory School opened in 1983 and is a privately owned provision which operates from the old school house in Rise, a small village in East Yorkshire. We serve the local rural villages and a wide surrounding area.
We have two main sessions which are 9am - 3pm and 9am - 1pm. We are open 44 weeks of the year, 7.30am - 6pm, so also offer Out of School Club care for children up to the age of 11 during the Easter and Summer holidays or any school closure days while Gemini is still open.
We offer a small family like environment and build good relationships with all the children and parents/carers through good communication links and by offering a warm friendly environment. We pride ourselves on the education experiences and structure we provide all the children in our care which ensures they are ready when they leave for Primary School, making the transition as smooth as it can be.
Gemini operates mainly in one large room that is sectioned into different developmental areas, with the children having free access to any toys or resources they wish to play with or use including bricks, dressing up, babies, prams, jigsaws, drawing, sand, kitchen, trains, cars, farm and many more. There is an extensive outside area with ride on toys and grass with balancing beams, climbing frame, slide, playhouse, sand/water. We also have an outside vegetable garden which the children grow fruit, vegetables and salad in each year.
There are many animals in the fields surrounding Gemini and a local allotment which the children regularly visit to see the chickens, collect eggs and pet the rabbits and guinea pigs. They also look at the sheep, horses and cows in the fields when we are out exploring on our country walks or picnics. They also enjoy watching the tractors, trailers and farm vehicles pass by.
All Gemini's staff are mature, very experienced, fully qualified and very friendly. All have worked with children for numerous years and have a positive approach and lead by example.
